American pop singer Britney Spears, who freed herself two years ago from a controversial guardianship exercised mainly by her father, will publish her autobiography in the fall, her publisher announced Tuesday.
Titled "The Woman In Me" and billed as an "incredibly moving story of freedom, glory, motherhood, survival, faith and hope," the book is expected in bookstores in the United States on October 24, said the American publishing giant Simon-Schuster without specifying if translations were planned in other languages.
Written with "candor and humor," Britney Spears' memoirs testify to the importance "for women to finally tell their stories, in their own words," her publisher said Tuesday. "Are you ready?" added the singer on her Instagram account followed by more than 42 million followers.
The pop star, revealed in her adolescence by the hit "Baby One More Time" then confirmed by the successes "Oops.... I did it again" and "Toxic", had been placed under legal guardianship in 2008, after manifesting psychological disorders.
Under guardianship for 14 years
Nearly fourteen years later, and at the end of a mediatized legal saga, a Los Angeles court lifted in November 2021 this guardianship, deemed "abusive" by the singer, to allow her to regain control of her personal life.

Now 41 years old, the star had already spoken briefly since the lifting of the guardianship, which prevented her from removing her contraceptive IUD despite her desire to have more children. The artist believes that her father Jamie Spears had "punished" her during these years of guardianship by preventing her from "being able to see anyone or say anything".
The singer made the news again on July 7 after filing a handrail against the bodyguard of French basketball player Victor Wembanyama. She was reportedly slapped as she tried to approach the NBA player to congratulate him. The blow "almost knocked me down and ripped off my glasses," she said, demanding an apology from the team and the player. No charges were brought against the bodyguard.
