Cgil, 'the social card is worth a coffee a day. It's a slap in the face

(ANSA) - ROME, JULY 11 - "After removing the citizenship income from 500,383 families in conditions of poverty and hardship, the government launches with great pomp what is simply a one-off contribution of 2 euros for the purchase of basic necessities: practically the equivalent of only one coffee a day". This is how the CGIL confederal secretary Daniela Barbaresi comments on the measure 'Dedicated to you', a card for the purchase of basic necessities presented today by the Government.
"So - continues the union leader - first the RdC is canceled, saving 7.<> billion euros from an instrument to combat poverty, then, instead of intervening on the purchasing power of wages and pensions, an allocation of half a billion euros is foreseen for a measure with a laughable impact". For Barbaresi "in the face of this, the statements of the various members of the Government are really bombastic, bordering on embarrassment. Would this be the way to support families in need? Truly a slap in the face to the dignity of people in conditions of hardship and poverty", he concludes. (ANSA).
