VIDEO. Passwords, contact details... This hacker found our personal data that was leaked on the web

Highlights: Data leaks from platforms such as Facebook or Twitter are regularly exchanged on hacker forums and the darknet. My phone number, a password, my activity on the FIFA game, my Google Maps review history... I did not think that this data, although very personal, could be so accessible. "In the case of the leak that hit Facebook a few years ago, this is more of a problem in the system, which allowed hackers to suck up a whole bunch of confidential information," says Thomas Faure, an ethical hacker.

My phone number, a password, my activity on the FIFA game, my Google Maps review history... I did not think that this data, although very personal, could be so accessible. However, it is enough to have access to data leaks from platforms such as Facebook or Twitter, which are regularly exchanged on hacker forums and the darknet, or accessible via certain websites. "In the case of the leak that hit Facebook a few years ago, this is not a hack, but more of a problem in the system, which allowed hackers to suck up a whole bunch of confidential information," says Thomas Faure, an ethical hacker. And here's how my personal phone number is now accessible, and can be found, in particular, in SMS spam networks.

In another data leak, this time concerning the Twitter network, it is for example possible to find a password. If I fortunately no longer use it, it shows that it was, at one point, easy to hack my account. Using other software, Thomas Faure will also have access to certain information associated with my Google account, deemed public or semi-public by the platform. There are my opinions left on different Google Maps places - generally positive, fortunately - but which can give an idea of the places I frequent. We also see other more amazing data, such as my activity on the FIFA game, probably related to an association between my video game account and my Google account.

Even more Orwellian, Thomas Faure will show me that it is possible to search all the photos on which I appear on the Internet from my face, thanks to a facial recognition site. If, in theory, content related to social networks does not appear, there are many captures of the TikTok account of Le Parisien, on which I appear regularly. Even more surprising, this website is able to find my face among 200 people, in a photo taken in a demonstration, during which I was doing a report.
