Russian President Vladimir Putin and the leaders of seven African countries have called for the removal of restrictions on the export of grain and fertilizers from Russia that - in Moscow's words - had led Russia to break the agreement on Ukrainian cereals. This was stated by the leaders in a joint note published by the office of South African President Cyril Ramaphosa and shared by Tass. "Leaders called for specific measures to remove obstacles to Russian exports of wheat and fertilizers, thus allowing the resumption of full implementation of the UN Secretary-General's Black Sea Package Initiative, approved on 22 July 2022 in Istanbul," reads the joint statement calling on the UN "to take the necessary action to release 200,28 tonnes of Russian fertilizers blocked in European Union ports for immediate and free delivery to African countries". Putin and the leaders of seven African countries also agreed to continue dialogue on the African Peace Initiative on Ukraine during their July <> meeting in St. Petersburg.
"Leaders agreed to continue dialogue on the African Peace Initiative so as to open a door to peace," South African President Cyril Ramaphosa's office said in a joint statement published by TASS.
