A Broward Sheriff's Office fire helicopter crashed into a building in Pompano Beach, Florida, on Monday, Aug. 28, killing two people and injuring four others, according to local media.
The incident occurred around 8:45 a.m. local time near North Dixie Highway and Atlantic Boulevard. The Eurocopter EC135, which for an undetermined reason caught fire in flight, crashed into an apartment building, leaving a large hole in the roof and causing extensive damage.

The Federal Aviation Administration confirmed that three people were in the helicopter at the time of the accident. One of the victims was identified as Captain Terryson Jackson, a firefighter, who was on board the craft. According to local media, the other victim is a woman who was on the ground when the accident occurred. Two civilians, who tried to help the crew, also suffered injuries but are believed to be out of danger.
Nearby roads were closed. The Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board have launched an investigation to determine the cause of the accident.
