Which night trains run in Europe?
There is a wide range of night trains in Europe. The largest provider is the ÖBB Nightjet: In addition to its own night journeys, further night trains are offered across Europe in cooperation with partner railways. These are called EuroNight trains at ÖBB. The connections are booked with the partner provider.
The trains of the provider European Sleeper run from the Netherlands and Belgium to Berlin. A connection to Dresden and Prague is planned for 2024. From spring 2025, there will also be a night train for the Amsterdam-Barcelona route. The ÖBB Nightjet has also been offering new routes since 2023, for example from Stuttgart to Venice.
Which night trains are there from Germany?
There are several places spread all over Germany from which the comfortable journey with one of the night train providers can begin. Most of the time, it is large metropolises such as Berlin and Frankfurt where the trains start and stop. The Deutsche Bahn (DB) also offers night trips: In the sleeping cars of certain ICE and IC trains, you can comfortably travel overnight through Germany or to other European countries.
In cooperation between DB and ÖBB, the route from Berlin to Paris and Brussels is to be set up at the end of 2023, and the connection from Vienna to Paris and Brussels is also planned, as reisereporter.de writes. The journey from Berlin to Paris or Brussels takes 14 hours. According to funk, ÖBB is also planning a connection from Zurich to Barcelona, which is scheduled to go into operation from December 2024.
