The price of gas futures jumped to the highest levels of the last 6 months, at 50.96 euros (+10.6%) while threats to gas supply increased and global fuel prices rose. The war between Israel and Hamas, potential strikes and the vulnerability of pipelines, undermine the fragility of the market.
However, analysts note, the market is in a much better situation now than at this time last year: stocks are high, demand is falling and several new import facilities have opened, and a relatively warm winter is expected, reducing gas needs.
