Staying at a hotel can be an unforgettable experience for people who are looking to relax and let others take care of them for a while. However, it can also be a material from which nightmares are made.
Are you staying at a hotel and going to the bathroom for the first time? It is highly recommended that you first flush the water before you sit down on the toilet and not only after you have finished. The New York Post reported that hotel workers have revealed room cleaning secrets for travel agency eShores and shared other helpful tips from their experience.
The workers, including chambermaids, cleaners, kitchen and reception staff (all of whom demanded anonymity) explained that hotels in warmer climates tend to be infested with insects like spiders that often rest right inside the toilet and even under the toilet board. To prevent such a spider from crawling straight into your buttocks, they really recommend that everyone flush the water before use and not just after.

Another tip they shared is to stay away from the free coffee pots, as they are very unhygienic (to say the least) and one staff member revealed that the kettle in the room is also barely disinfected, so it's best to avoid drinking coffee or tea in such a situation. The glassware and coffee cups are also not cleaned properly, with the hotel cleaners just washing them with water and wiping with a dry cloth which they used to clean more places in the room. And yes - it happens in five-star hotels too.
In the past, we told you about Evangeline, a former hotel employee, who revealed that because of her in-depth knowledge of the cleaning process that hotel rooms go through - she brings her own cleaning equipment every time she stays in a hotel - and quickly wipes some important places as soon as she enters the room. "I will never use the remotes in the room without wiping them with a wipe first," she said, "I will never use the glasses in the room, I'm talking about the glasses in the room that are ready to use. I will never use them without washing them first."

but it only gets worse. One hotel employee said he encountered a hotel guest who simply urinated into a bottle in the minibar and changed the cap. One of the guests who entered the room after him almost drank it, but luckily smelled the stench.
The staff urged guests to check carefully before having a drink or having a snack from the minibar whose closing seal is not broken - as you never know what other people who were in the room did to them.

Vegetarian or vegan? Don't go near breakfast
Another "pleasure" that employees recommend avoiding is the hotel's breakfast, even if it's something included in your package – especially if you're vegetarian. It turns out that many of the cooks cook the vegetables and vegetarian or vegan dishes in pots and pans that are used both for meat and in serving utensils, mixing and not making sure to separate the meat from the vegetarian dishes.
Tara B, a former hotel maid, says it's also highly recommended to remove the bedspread as soon as you enter the hotel room because it's filthy: "They are only washed once a year, unless there's dirt in plain sight." Evangeline also shared that she would "never sit on the bedspread" and explained that these covers often don't get washed. "I'll never sit on the bedspread," she said, "bedspread isn't the sheet, it's not the blanket, it's what's above it. This thing comes down the first minute I walk into the room. These things are not washed often. These covers are washed maybe once a year – so don't sit on them."
