In light of the tense security situation on the northern border, the Ministry of Construction and Housing has instructed to make a rapid move to use shelters in northern cities. The professionals approached the heads of the local authorities in order to map the shelters in the cities and their condition, and it emerged that there is indeed a substantial need for the issue since the responsibility for the care of the shelters in the buildings lies under the house committees and most of them are not properly treated.
In recent days, the ministry's director-general, Yehuda Morgenstern, contacted Finance Ministry officials in order to obtain approval for a budget shift for the issue, and this morning the approval was received and the operation was launched. The Ministry of Construction and Housing will itself carry out a comprehensive deployment of shelters in buildings housing public housing residents, and will approve budgetary support for local authorities for the purpose of implementing shelters in all communities from the Haifa-Tiberias line northward.
The division of labor for the use of shelters will be carried out by the local authorities and monitored by the ministry's professionals in order to deal with and bring about emergency use. Among the steps that will be taken in favor of the use of the shelters are - removal of items, installation and inspection of sanitary ware, checking the integrity of the doors, electricity, water and sewage, ventilation and completion of any required safety arrangements and more.

Yesterday, the Israel Land Authority made a series of decisions aimed at an initial response to urgent needs in order to assist and ease the economy in general and the communities and residents of the envelope in particular.
