In 1947, two years after the end of the war, a love story is born between Madeleine (Anaïs Demoustier) and François (Vincent Lacoste), each of whom carries a heavy secret. She is a single mother and waitress in a hotel-restaurant, he is a well-educated student. Their physical attraction turns into a great passion, which nevertheless mixes lies and pretenses, each trying to hide an unmentionable story. Madeleine wants to leave the past behind, when François gradually reveals himself as a man who is looking for a way to escape in this relationship.
