Blizzard reveals details about the new class in the Diablo 4 Season 2 interview. Because of a cheeky 'Diablo Immortal' question. When is the Paladin coming?
Hamburg – Diablo 4 wants to make everything better with Season 2, the players should come back happy. Season of Blood is the new season. Blizzard has now presented the 1.2.0 update in detail. The patch notes are more extensive and longer than some bachelor theses. But the changes have washed: endgame, all classes, uniques, dungeons, balance, resistances... and even more are waiting from October 17, 2023.

Blizzard cheekily asked in an interview: When is the Paladin coming to Diablo 4?
New class in Diablo 4? We had the chance to speak directly with the developers of Diablo 4. Actually, it was supposed to revolve around the approaching Season 2, which is supposed to save Diablo 4. At ingame.de, however, we have taken a broader approach. Cheekily, we simply asked about the next class from Diablo 4 – a well-kept secret, you can try it:
Diablo Immortal got its Blood Knight after about a year. May I ask very carefully, when is the Paladin coming to Diablo 4? No, kidding! But would you have a little tidbit of info on new classes for us? Or is this more of a question for a DLC, a major expansion rather than a new season?

The expectation was that the developers would actually stall right away, as the question overshot well beyond Season 2. But hardly any other topic interests players as much as the return of the Paladin, or another sorely missed class. Even more brazen was actually to use Diablo Immortal as a hook, which is passionately hated. But Blizzard responded kindly.
Blizzard answers in the interview: When is the new class coming to Diablo 4 – Season or Addon?
Blizzard responds: Of the three developers in the interview,Joseph Piepiora stepped into the breach. The senior dev thoughtfully said, "I think with something the size of a new class, we want to make sure it's properly integrated into the game. And we need a lot of testing to make it feel good." Then Piepiora became more specific:

Classes are the kind of content you'd expect to see in expansions, rather than in a season of Diablo 4.

The understandable reason given was that the legendary aspects, the uniques, the Paragon boards of the class builds, all took up an enormous amount of time. Blizzard wants to "make sure that when we introduce classes beyond the 5 core classes, they feel as good and fun as possible for players," Piepiora adds. Okay, so I don't think there will be a new class in Diablo 2 in Season 3 and Season 4, when will there be?

First expansion for Diablo 4: A DLC every year, the boss reveals
Diablo 4: When is the expansion coming? An exact date for the first add-on, DLC, or expansion has not yet been announced for Diablo 4. However, Blizzard's Diablo boss, Rod Fergusson, revealed more details. According to Fergusson, there will be a major expansion for Diablo 4 every year.
Whether this means that after 4 seasons (a season lasts three months) we can always expect an add-on like Reaper of Souls or Lord of Desctrucion in the summer, is uncertain. Then June 2024 would be the most likely date for the new class in Diablo 4. If you want to know whether Season 17, which starts on October 2, is worth it, you can find out more here.
