Autumn is apple pie time! Bake Florentine cake with apples and cinnamon, apple and plum sheet cake, sunken apple pie or apple shaken cake. Or you can try the following recipe for the delicious sheet cake with apples and custard.

Cake recipe: You need the following ingredients for the apple pudding sheet cake

For the cake batter:

  • 4 apples
  • A little lemon juice
  • 200 g soft butter
  • 200 g sugar
  • 1 packet of vanilla sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 250 g flour
  • 1 packet of baking powder

For the pie filling:

  • 2 packets of vanilla pudding powder
  • 3 tbsp sugar
  • 750 ml milk

For the topping:

  • 300 g flour
  • 220 g sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 230 g cold butter

You'll also need some butter or margarine and flour to grease and dust the deep baking sheet.

Preparation: This is how easy and quick it is to bake an apple pudding cake tray

  • Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius top/bottom heat (fan 160 degrees Celsius) and grease a deep baking tray with butter or margarine, then sprinkle with a little flour. Wash, peel and core the apples and then cut them into fine slices and drizzle with a little lemon juice.
  • Beat the butter with the sugar and vanilla sugar until fluffy and gradually add the eggs, stirring. Finally, add the flour and baking powder and stir vigorously until a smooth dough is formed, which you pour into the greased and floured baking sheet. Spread the apple slices on top and bake the cake in a preheated oven for about 20 minutes.
  • For the cake filling, mix the vanilla pudding powder with the sugar and 250 milliliters of milk. Boil the remaining milk in a saucepan. Then add the mixed pudding and sugar mixture to the hot milk and cook the pudding for about three minutes, stirring constantly.
  • For the topping, mix the flour, sugar and cinnamon together and gradually add small pieces of the cold butter. Knead the baking ingredients and shape them into delicious cake crumbles.
  • Place the hot custard on top of the pie crust and spread the cake crumble evenly over the top. Place the apple custard sheet cake in the oven for another quarter of an hour.
