Above all, lovers of Turkish and Arabic cuisine should take a look at their spice rack: The brand "SUNTAT/BAKTAT" is recalling its popular "Pul Biber Paprika Spice Preparation 80g". Affected are items with best-before dates 30.09.2024, 31.12.2024 and the batch: SN 270205. The reason for the recall is an unapproved dye that can be dangerous for consumers.

Hazardous Sudan Dye Detected in Paprika Spice

Dyeing food is a common process to make products look better and thus satisfy consumers' color expectations. Dyes of animal, plant and mineral origin are not a problem for our body – synthetic dyes, such as the Sudan contained in paprika spice, are.
