You can easily make your own chips in the microwave. All you need are potatoes, spices and shish kebab skewers.

  • 6 potatoes
  • Salt
  • Other spices you like

Preparation: This is how easy and quick it is to make the DIY chips from the microwave

  • Peel the potatoes and cut them into fine slices using the vegetable slicer. If you don't have a vegetable slicer at hand, you can also try cutting thin slices with a very sharp knife.
  • Place the potato slices in a bowl of cold water for about five minutes. This will cause the potatoes to lose a little of their starch.
  • Remove the slices from the potato water that you can continue to use and dry them with a little kitchen roll.
  • Thread the slices onto the shashlik skewers without the individual slices touching each other. You should also leave some space at the respective ends.
  • Place the ends of the shish kebab skewers on the microwave-safe bowl so that the threaded potato slices are free.
  • Place the potato skewers in the microwave for about eight minutes. Depending on the power of your microwave, you should observe whether the homemade chips are still too soft or nice and crispy and brown.
  • Then transfer the potato chips from the skewers to a snack bowl and enjoy the chips with salt and your favorite spices, or with a homemade dip such as wild garlic tzatziki, pea guacamole or spicy salsa sauce.
