For the first time, Gambero Rosso's Guide to Italian Wines 2024 awards the Marche region, designating Umani Ronchi as "winery of the year". The organic farm of the Bernetti family, reads the reasons for the recognition, "has been sailing for years at levels of excellence". And in the same region goes the award for the best solidarity project given to Velenosi from the Marche region, with the virtuous initiative that the owner Angela has been carrying out for some years giving concrete help to a group of autistic children.

The volume, presented today at the Teatro Brancaccio in Rome, at its thirty-seventh edition tells a scenario, where Made in Italy is the protagonist of the international scene for its rich biodiversity. A team of 70 tasters tested 50,498 labels from Italy, but also from the Canton of Ticino and Slovenia, awarding 35 Tre Bicchieri, the highest award with 56% of organic or biodynamic companies, 15 wines under 12 euros and <> Special Awards.

Today, the Italian Wine Guide is produced in three editions in foreign languages, German, English and for some years now also in Chinese, specify the editors, Marco Sabellico, Gianni Fabrizio and Giuseppe Carrus.

In this overview, 174 wines, equal to 35% of the total, are the Tre Bicchieri Verdi, produced by certified organic or biodynamic companies (vs 154 in 2023): an absolute record for Vini d'Italia, confirming a virtuous trend that feeds from harvest to harvest, from micro-wineries to large companies capable of relaunching the multiple challenges of environmental sustainability. As many as 56 award-winning wines can be found in wine shops within the 15 euro range, including 7 labels even under ten euros.

These are the special prizes: · The Red of the Year goes to a sumptuous edition of the Barolo Vigna Rionda Ester Canale Rosso 2019 of the Giovanni Rosso winery in Serralunga d'Alba (Cuneo), yet another confirmation of the Langa as one of the great terroirs of world oenology; ·

The White of the Year comes from Friuli: it is Marko Primosic's Collio Chardonnay Riserva 2018, which demonstrates once again how Italian whites can be fascinating and long-lived;

· The Bubbles of the Year remain the prerogative of Lombardy with the excellent Franciacorta Nature 2016 by Gatti, the historic maison of the appellation;

· The Rosé of the Year is Pettinella's Cerasuolo d'Abruzzo Tauma 2022. A rosé with an artisanal trait, true, truly identifying.
