The Russian army is "improving its positions" on the Ukrainian front, including around the city of Avdiivka (east), which has been the target of a massive assault by Moscow's troops for several days with the aim of encircling it, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Our troops are improving their position in almost all of this space, a fairly large space," Putin said in an interview on Russian television, an excerpt of which was published on social media today by the journalist who interviewed him, Paul Zaroubin. "This concerns the areas of Kupiansk, Zaporizhzhia and Avdiivka," Putin added.
