In Brussels, the Belgium-Sweden match, valid for the 2024 European Football Championship qualifiers, has been cancelled "for security reasons", UEFA said. The teams did not return to the field. The Swedish players at half-time learned of the two of their compatriots killed in the Belgian capital before the start of the match, from a man who later claimed responsibility for the terrorist act on behalf of ISIS.
The public was held inside the King Baudouin Stadium pending the evacuation that began shortly before midnight.
