For those who still don't know, Vaux-le-Vicomte is the castle that inspired Louis XIV to build Versailles. The king was then living in Fontainebleau (now in Seine-et-Marne) and he was jealous and then copied Nicolas Fouquet's castle. One never tires of Vaux, its richly furnished interiors, its painted ceilings, the grand salon, where Fouquet, Superintendent of Finance, organized a prestigious evening for 600 guests, in the presence of the king, Molière, La Fontaine, on August 17, 1661.
