Phillip Island is a track that has traditionally treated Marc Marquez and the Honda RC213V well. Together they took three victories in Australia in 2015, 2017 and 2019, making the Spaniard the most successful rider on the 4.45km long track. There Marquez scored a podium last year: his hundredth in the premier class with the Repsol Honda Team.
Different times. "Phillip Island is a circuit with a lot of good memories for me. The place is something truly unique on the MotoGP calendar and I have experienced many memorable races on that track - recalls the Spanish rider, who will return to it in 2024 on a Ducati - Last year we got a great podium. As always, we have to see what happens this weekend and especially here in Australia the weather can change a lot and the wind can complicate things. It will be important to have a good plan for all scenarios." And indeed, the weather looks set to be more unstable than ever.
