Important victory for the Netherlands in Athens in the Euro 2024 qualifiers: 1-0 with a penalty converted by Van Dijk in the 93rd minute. In Group B, already won by France, the Dutch join the Greeks on 12 points but with a game less and ahead in the head-to-head clashes with the Greeks. In the first half, the Netherlands had wasted another penalty, kicked by Weghorst and saved by Vlachodimos. Gustavo Poyet, Uruguay's coach of Greece, was sent off at the end of the game.
Insatiable Portugal who, although already promoted, went on to win 5-0 at Bornia Erzegovina, picking up their eighth win in as many rounds, with 32 goals scored and just two conceded. All the goals in the first half, including Cristiano Ronaldo's second consecutive brace that took him to 127 international goals. Also in Group J, Slovakia led by Francesco Calzona won 1-0 in Luxembourg and consolidated second place.
Austria qualified for Euro 2024 by beating Azerbaijan 1-0 in Baku, a victory that guarantees them one of the top two places in Group F, with Belgium.
Borussia Dortmund midfielder Marcel Sabitzer scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot (48'). In addition to Germany, Belgium, France, Portugal, Scotland, Spain and Turkey have already qualified as the host country.
