In a digital customer portal, insured persons can now also take care of pension insurance benefits online. There are also new functions for caregivers.
Frankfurt – Submitting applications, changing personal data or viewing documents relating to one's own pension: Until now, insured persons and pensioners had to submit much of this to the German Pension Insurance by post or in person on site. With a new customer portal, online services are now to be bundled in a central location.

According to a press release from the German Pension Insurance, the aim is to speed up the processing of applications and answering inquiries through digital communication with customers. "This helps users and at the same time relieves the burden on employees," it says. Another important point is that the services can be used regardless of location and time and on different devices.
After successful registration in the portal, insured persons, Riester savers and pensioners can view documents, submit online applications, exchange messages and documents via e-mailbox and access information on the Riester pension. In the future, the portal will be continuously expanded and supplemented with further functions. Registration is only possible with the online ID function, the so-called eID, the identity card. Users also need a card reader or an NFC-enabled smartphone and an ID card app.
Pension insurance: An extra portal for caregivers
And there is also a specially set up portal for authorised representatives or guardians who take care of other people's pension insurance. There, they can even manage the data of several people at the same time, provided that there is a valid guardianship or power of attorney. This must also be deposited in the insurance account of the person being cared for.
Just recently, the German Pension Insurance presented another digital innovation: the digital pension overview. Since this summer, insured persons have been able to get an overview of their retirement provision free of charge. For mothers and fathers in retirement, the new regulation of the Federal Fiscal Court, in which a higher tax-free allowance was recently set for certain groups, is also likely to appear there. (alm
