"One of the main triggers of migration flows is armed conflict. And right now there are two on Europe's doorstep, the war in Ukraine and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, both of which are uncertain and likely to have an impact on the dynamics of flows. Without forgetting that the conflict in the Middle East also carries with it the risk of triggering Islamist radicalizations, as happened only a few days ago in France with the murder of a teacher by an Islamist fanatic and last night in Brussels with the killing of two Swedish citizens." This was said by the Minister of the Interior, Matteo Piantedosi, in a briefing to the Chamber of Deputies.
"At the moment," the minister added, "there is no concrete and immediate evidence of terrorist risk as far as Italy is concerned, but the situation is such as to require a very high level of attention, as the terrorist threat often presents itself in an impalpable, fluid and not always definable way."
