Tara Strong, a Canadian-American Jewish actress and voice actress, expressed support for Israel and was fired. She learned of her dismissal through a tweet posted online.

Strong, 50, is an Emmy-nominated voice actor whose long list of credits includes voice-overs in hit shows such as "The Powerpuff Girls," "I Care Bears," "The King in the Bar," "Family Guy" and dozens of other successful series as well as guest roles in television series.

When the fighting began, she shared pro-Israel content on her Instagram and Twitter accounts, a move that she claimed led to her being fired as a voice actor in the animated series Boxton simply because she was Jewish.

"I just found out about this on Twitter," Strong tweeted last week about how she found out she had been fired, with a tweet on the show's official page revealing that Bill, the character she voiced on the series, would be recast.

"I was fired just because I'm Jewish," Strong tweeted in response to a tweet on the show's page. "Glad I helped you raise your money to jumpstart the series. Please lose my email and pray for my family in Israel and Gaza and pray for peace," she wrote.

On the one hand, Strong's accusatory tweet was attacked by pro-Palestinian users who spoke out harshly against her, and on the other hand, support from pro-Israeli and Jewish users who agreed with her that her Jewishness and support for Israel were the factors that led to her dismissal, a claim that one of the writers of the series denied in a separate tweet, claiming that the voice of the second main character and himself are Jewish.

In another tweet posted on the show's page, those behind it sought clarification, writing: "As some of you may have heard, Tara Strong is no longer part of Boxton or Bandit Mill Animation and will no longer voice the character of orphan Bill. This decision came in the wake of Tara's recent content on social media, which included posts with controversial messages about the lives of Palestinians affected by the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.

"We believe our public platform requires us to be cautious when it comes to hate content and inaccurate information posted on social media. That includes our staff and players. It was not a difficult decision. Our hearts are with Palestinian and Israeli children and families affected by this ongoing conflict. People should have the ability to live freely without being constantly threatened with abuse and terror. We pray for the best."
