A treasury of 400 million is emerging to finance local interventions for 2024 with a measure parallel to or subsequent to the maneuver. The government aims for the approval of the budget law in Parliament by December 14, without amendments. Sources in the executive and center-right confirm the scenario, anticipated by la Repubblica, indicating three viable paths. One is the so-called tipping law. The second is a resolution, contextual to the manoeuvre, for which, however, a complex negotiation with the opposition would be required. Finally, an agenda to be approved in the Senate Budget Committee when the maneuver is dismissed.

CGIL towards strike: 'Wrong and inadequate manoeuvre'

- "The measures announced for the next budget law confirm an absolutely wrong and inadequate economic policy line" of the government: this is the judgment on the maneuver expressed by the general assembly of the CGIL. The extension of the cut in the wedge "that we have claimed and begun to obtain from the Draghi government - argues the CGIL - is limited to confirming the paychecks that incomes up to 35 thousand are already receiving (other than '100 euros more on average' as touted by the Prime Minister). However, the unification of the first two income tax brackets will produce almost imperceptible benefits".

The general assembly of the CGIL gives "a mandate to the national secretariat to proclaim entire days of strike with all categories and to organize demonstrations throughout the country starting next November in the forms and modalities deemed most appropriate, including the general strike." This is the approved agenda, in which the proposal put forward by the UIL to put in place demonstrations and strike hours is evaluated "positively". Therefore, the secretariat "will confirm to the UIL and the CISL its full willingness to meet for a common assessment of the phase and define a path of mobilization."

It is "a wrong manoeuvre" and "as far as we are concerned, we are ready to go on a general strike", said the general secretary of the CGIL, Maurizio Landini, at the end of the assembly. "A wrong manoeuvre that does not protect wages and pensions, that does not introduce the minimum wage, that does not fight tax evasion, that does not tax income and profits, that cuts public health and education. They had to cancel the Fornero law, they worsened that law, no one retires anymore. It does not erase the precariousness that particularly affects young people and women, so we must continue the mobilization to change it."
