It is the Sips in Barcelona, founded by the Italian Simone Caporale together with Marc Alvarez, the best bar in the world according to the World's 50 Best Bars 2023, presented in Singapore, in the Pasir Panjang Power Station. On the podium, in second and third position, two overseas brands: Double Chicken Please in New York and Handshake Speakeasy in Mexico City. For Italy, Drink Kong in Rome, 1930 in Milan, L'Antiquario in Naples and Locale Firenze confirm their presence in the international ranking. New entry with a leap of over fifty places: Brakes and Clutches in Rome.
For the first time in fifteen years, the World's 50 Best Bars 2023 awards ceremony has left Europe for Asia. "When we launched World's 50 Best Bars, our intention was to highlight the must-see destinations for cocktail lovers," said new director William Drew. And Singapore is certainly one of them: there are three bars in the city-state in the ranking. Even if it did not manage to surpass the record of Barcelona, which this year sees Sips (and the Italian Simone Caporale) in first place.
The jury, made up of 680 experts, bartenders, consultants and journalists, this year also awarded Italy with Drink Kong in Rome, which ranks 21st, followed by secret bar 1930 in Milan (drops from 35th to 42nd place), L'Antiquario in Naples (up from 46th to 44th place), Locale Firenze (which goes from 39th to 46th place), already present last year, and the climb of Brakes and Clutches of Rome which arrives, with a great leap, to 33rd position (last year it was placed 86th). On the other hand, Camparino in Galleria in Milan is relegated again, down from 73rd to number 85.
