In addition to being an actress, Sharon Stone has been painting in recent years. The 65-year-old star showcased her paintings at an exhibition titled "Welcome To My Garden" at the C. Parker Gallery in Greenwich, Connecticut. When asked about her work, she suddenly burst into tears at the mention of a painting inspired by her trip to the Holy Land. "It's just a very difficult moment," she told US media outlet Extra on Saturday, referring to Hamas' attack on Israel on October 7 and the massive bombardment of Gaza by the Jewish state that followed.

Of her work, an abstract painting in light tones, she explained: "I went to the [Wailing] Wall in Jerusalem to write a prayer on a small piece of paper. And I prayed for peace and put it on the wall." With tears streaming down her face, she continued, "And I painted this picture of Jerusalem on the wall and it's quite touching to me that it's visible right now even as this Hamas attack is taking place."

'An intermediary'

Coming to her senses, she continued: "That's why I painted Jerusalem because when you ask for peace, you ask that someone not kill the child of a person who is a stranger to him... It's a heavy subject, but you can't say that a stranger's child is your enemy."

The Basic Instinct actress also shared how she got into the art, confiding that she paints up to 17 hours a day. "I paint a lot. I love it. I do a bit of meditation, like a prayer, because I believe that this spirit speaks to me when I paint. It's a lot like my acting. I feel like I'm an intermediary and it's my job to be a proper intermediary."
