China also removed its finance minister and science and technology minister today. President Xi Jinping, in the state media report, signed the decree on the decisions taken today by the sixth meeting of the National Congress Standing Committee - the legislative branch of the Chinese parliament - which provides for the removal of Liu Kun as finance minister and the appointment of Lan Fo'an and Wang Zhigang as minister of science and technology in his place and the appointment of Yin Hejun in his place. Both Lan and Yin had been appointed Communist Party leaders in their respective ministries in recent months.
