Recently hyped, but now a total flop: NFTs. Kaufland has the solution for all those who don't know what to do with their worthless digital goods:
The hype around NFTs was very high in the years around 2020. Many have jumped on the bandwagon of non-copyable digital goods and bought NFTs. Now, many people are sitting on purchased NFTs that consume electricity, but are otherwise quite useless and worthless. Now, Kaufland has launched a promotion for all frustrated NFT owners.
What NFTs Are and How They Lost Their Value
An NFT (Non-Fungible Token) is a type of digital document that identifies a digital asset, such as a work of art, an image, a piece of music or an object, as "genuine" and ensures that this asset cannot be copied. Typically, an NFT represents a URL to a media file.
This image then resides on a third-party server, so it doesn't exist downloaded on its own hard drive. NFTs have been around since 2012 and have received a lot of attention in the years around 2020. However, NFTs have been criticized for high power consumption and increasing scams, among other things. More and more people lost interest in NFTs, most of which are now completely or largely worthless.
Exchange NFTs at Kaufland and receive a shopping voucher
Kaufland has a heart for all NFT victims and offers its customers the opportunity to exchange NFTs for a ten-euro shopping voucher as part of the "NFT Refresh" campaign. Better than nothing. "The vast majority of NFTs that are on the blockchain are de facto worth nothing today. For us, this is a perfect time to surprise the NFT community with some good news," explains Christoph Schneider, Managing Director Marketing at Kaufland Germany. In a Youtube video from Kaufland, NFTobi explains exactly how the exchange works: Simply redeem the NFTs on Fresh4trash.io and receive the ten-euro shopping voucher. You can now use it to buy fruit, vegetables or other goods in a Kaufland store of your choice. But beware: The promotion only runs until October 30, 2023, 12 noon.
