The subcommittee of the National Council for Planning and Building (Valnata) discussed today (Tuesday), at the request of the Minister of the Interior, the establishment of the community of Hanoun, and approved its establishment as a new community settlement in the Sdot Negev Regional Council. The new settlement, which was promoted following the decision of the National Council and the government, is proposed within the Sdot Negev Regional Council, north of Road 25 and east of Kibbutz Sa'ed.
The discussion took place following previous decisions in the District Committee, the National Planning Committee and the National Council, as part of an ongoing process aimed at strengthening the Revival Region area, and aimed at recommending to the National Council that it would discuss depositing the plan.
Among the reasons for establishing the community is the location of the proposed settlement in the Takuma region (the new name of the area surrounding the Gaza Strip) in an area defined as a national priority within 7 km of the Gaza Strip border, in an area where its residents are under constant security threat. The establishment of the community as a mixed community will strengthen the existing communities in the area, both in terms of shared services and in terms of developing infrastructures that can provide a solution for a number of communities.

As you may recall, Holnata already discussed the initiative to establish the community at its meeting on December 14, 12, and the National Council discussed its meeting on January 2021, 4, and decided to recommend to the government the establishment of the new community. Following this decision, Government Decision No. 1 was adopted on February 2022, 108 on the establishment of the settlement.
Interior Minister Moshe Arbel: "The decision made today approving the planning of Hanoun will encourage demographic growth and strengthen the revival of the State of Israel. Every damned terrorist knew that we were here to stay, settle down and put down roots. We will continue to invest joint efforts to increase supply, lower prices and enable many families and young people to settle safely throughout the country."
Director General of the Planning Authority, Rafi Elmalih: "Since the beginning of the war, the Planning Administration, with all its units, has been working tirelessly to provide solutions that will provide a response to the entire population, with an emphasis on the communities of the Resurrection Region, while understanding the needs of the field. The establishment of Hanoun as a community will strengthen and be part of the rehabilitation of the Revival District, with an opportunity for a new perspective on the area and new planning thinking. This is only part of the basket of solutions we are formulating to rehabilitate the region."
