The new war routine also kept some bookstores closed this week. Those who did buy books this week clearly preferred escapism – the books that would allow an escape from the situation, even if only for a moment.
Alongside them, this week's best-sellers mark two interesting entrances: the first, and highly anticipated, is Matthew Perry's memoir – in a touching and uncompromising way, which still manages to make him laugh, in which he writes his life. Among other things, he talks about his addiction, while throwing anecdotes about his relationship with Julia Roberts, falling in love with Jennifer Aniston and his relationship with the friends who led that series, which made him a star.
Another entrance belongs to "Son of Hamas," a book by Mus'ab Hassan Yusuf, which sheds light on the organization's internal conduct. The book, which was first published in Israel over a decade ago, returned in recent weeks to the bestseller charts of the large book chains, Steimatzky, Tzomet Sfarim and the Hebrew website - and this week, for the first time, entered the top ten.
After many weeks, Jojo Moyes' "Stepping into the Shoes" did not enter the top ten. Sharon Tzohar's military-romantic books may also be absent, but they continue to climb digitally and in stores, and it seems that in the spirit of the times, we will see them here again.
