The Jerusalem Municipality, through the Local Planning and Building Committee, announced today (Monday) that it has approved for deposit in the District Committee an urban renewal plan in the Garden City neighborhood of Jerusalem.

The plan, located between Hanorit Street and Costa Rica Street, covering an area of 12.7 dunams, includes the construction of 326 housing units in three residential towers with a height of 3 floors. The plan also proposes areas for commerce and employment, open public space and a pedestrian road between Costa Rica and Nurit streets, as well as underground floors for parking.

The area of the plan is included in a plan approved for a large area by the National Council several years ago, and which was promoted by the municipality. The plan was based on complementary land that is currently irrelevant. In order to implement the plan, this plan is submitted, which aims to add housing units in the complex, instead of the housing units that were canceled as part of the supplementary land.

In addition to housing, the plan proposes the improvement of the public space and proposes a large area of about 3.5 dunams for a new school and other uses. In addition, the plan will include a provision for public needs, which includes three kindergartens, each with a built-up area of 3 square meters and a courtyard of 130 square meters for a kindergarten and a 175-square-meter synagogue. The Jerusalem Municipality said: "The buildings in question were marked as requiring urban renewal, due to their physical condition and the existing density in them.

The approved plan includes a significant addition of housing units in the area and will change and improve the visibility of the construction complex in all aspects, for the benefit of local residents, young families and those who come to live in Jerusalem."

The presenter of the Africa Urban Renewal program and the editor of the plans is architect Yigal Levy of the firm "Architects and Town Planners".

Ronit Eshed Levy, CEO of Africa Urban Renewal: "The Nurit project approved by the Jerusalem Municipality joins the growing list of projects from Africa Urban Renewal and Africa Israel Residences, whose advancement is made possible thanks to the close cooperation with the Jerusalem Municipality and the Municipality's Engineering Director, while placing the residents at the center of municipal considerations. Especially at this time, when we are gaining more validity regarding the importance of renewal projects, this project will enable a significant number of protected apartments alongside extensive green areas and efficient public buildings for the welfare of the neighborhood. Africa Urban Renewal will continue to work vigorously to enable all its residents to live in protected apartments, and in new living environments that enable life experiences at the highest standard accepted by society, all as soon as possible and without compromising quality."
