The Russian judges who are to hear the complaints filed by Alexei Navalny against his prison conditions have suspended proceedings until his whereabouts are clarified. This was said by the spokeswoman of the opposition, Kira Yarmysh, quoted by the Meduza website, confirming that for 13 days now there has been no news of him.
Seven hearings were scheduled today on the complaints filed by Navalny, but he did not even appear by videoconference, Yarmysh wrote on X. The spokeswoman added that over the weekend her lawyers searched for the opponent and contacted more than 200 detention centres, but are still waiting for answers.
On December 11, Navalny's lawyers reported that employees of Penal Colony No. 6 in the Vladimir region, about 200 kilometers from Moscow, where he had been detained since June 2022, said he was no longer on the list of detainees. On 15 December, in a document read during a court hearing, the Federal Penitentiary Service confirmed that Navalny had been transferred to a detention centre outside the Vladimir region, but did not specify where.
