From the dates of the Italian Super Cup to the request to the Federal Council to tighten the criteria for national licenses, the Lega Serie A closes 2023 with the last assembly of the year in which there was no shortage of hot topics on the agenda.

On Wednesday, in fact, a new Federal Council will be staged, in which the League will bring the request to tighten the sanctions on the front of national licenses.

In particular, the clubs' assembly approved the decision to suggest "sporting sanctions as a penalty - explained president Lorenzo Casini at the press conference - in the event that certain teams find themselves adopting the tools provided for by the so-called Business Crisis Code", i.e. those rules that, among other issues, allow companies in difficulty to proceed with a write-off of debts subject to agreement with creditors.

A unanimity in which the League also found itself on the Growth Decree front. In particular, "the clubs have confirmed their opposition to the abolition of this benefit," Casini added, then explaining how a document will be prepared, to be sent to the government, which "shows the damage of this abolition and how removing it can disadvantage young people. We will send it in a spirit of collaboration, not confrontation."

Among other issues, in addition to the approval of new commercial agreements (with an increase from 35 to 64 million in the three-year period 2021/24) and international TV rights (in Germany and the Balkans in particular, with an overall growth of 5%), the issue of the Italian Super Cup was also on the table, after the controversies of recent weeks. "It will be played in Saudi Arabia on January 18 and 19 for the semi-finals and on January 22 for the final. The stadium will be the same for all matches, namely that of Cristiano Ronaldo's Al Nassr, where the Spanish Super Cup will be played," Casini confirmed.
