The title of king of the holiday box office is shaky and WONKA's primacy (clearly in the lead on Christmas Day) is not so sure, still remaining very far from long-running successes such as "Barbie", "Oppenheimer", "There's still tomorrow". According to a well-established tradition, there are just two films that choose to be released close to New Year's Eve. But there are many hopes on Pio and Amedeo's new comedy because this year the comedy - especially the Italian one - has been substantially missing from the roll call and there is a lot of nostalgia for the shining seasons of Checco Zalone, four times on the first step of the podium and the only protagonist able to repeat himself regularly, always appearing in the ranking of the 15 most viewed titles of the new millennium from "Avatar" (2009) onwards. Some also seem to be nostalgic for the classic "cinepanettone", but this formula seems to be over forever and if anything finds space, in very different versions, on online platforms. In cinemas from tomorrow: - COME PUO' UNO SCOGLIO by Gennaro Nunziante with Amedeo Grieco, Pio D'Antini, Francesca Valtorta, Nicola Rignanese, Claudio Bigagli, Christina Andrea Rosamilla. For the second time, the two comedians rely on a cinephile director like Gennaro Nunziante, who accompanied Checco Zalone's first steps and then... start your own business. The result is a story with two very defined characters that go far beyond the duo's traditional sketches. Pio is a quiet and irresolute ex-provincial boy who lives in his in-laws' castle, he is commanded by his wife and above all by his father who, although recently deceased, has already organized his son's future. When the parish priest of the village entrusts him with the care of the ex-convict Amedeo (hired as a factotum in the family business), Pio does not yet know that that choice will change his life. In fact, his unexpected "twin" has that determination and shrewdness that Pio has always lacked. And it will help him find himself again.
- RICOMINCIO DA ME by Nathan Ambrosioni with Camille Cottin, Léa Lopez, Thomas Gioria, Louise Labeque, Oscar Pauleau, Juliane Lepoureau, Catherine Mouchet, Florence Muller. Despite his French ancestry, the director is one of the promises of French cinema and his film arrives in Italy on the wave of numerous awards and public consensus. At the center of the story is Toni, a former singer at the top of the hit parade, now a mother of 5 children whom she supports with her work and supplements with a few singing performances in bars. But the hour of the boys' emancipation is approaching and the woman wonders about the possibility of building a future worthy of her past.
The absolute protagonist is Camille Cottin (Call my agent!), now an emerging diva of international cinema.
