"La Grande Soirée du 31" by France 2, with the broadcast of the fireworks fired on the Arc de Triomphe, did almost twice as well

And the ultimate winner of 2023 is... France 2. The channel won the New Year's Eve match by placing itself at the top of the ratings for the last evening of the year thanks to "La Grande Soirée du 31 de Paris", orchestrated by Stéphane Bern. According to Médiamétrie, 4.19 million viewers on average watched until 0:40 this entertainment under the sign of the Olympic Games, which France Télévisions will broadcast exclusively this summer, and which ended with a fireworks display on the Arc de Triomphe. The market share is 30.3% among the total audience aged four and over. It is 20.7% on women purchasing managers under the age of 50 (FRDA-50). The public service channel is clearly ahead of TF 1. "Le Grand Bêtisier du 31", presented as a duo by Christophe Beaugrand and Karine Ferri, was watched until 0:35 by 2.39 million people, representing a 17.1% market share (and 29% of the FRDA-50).

M 6, which also offered a gala evening, entitled "M 6 on its 31st, let the party begin!", is at the foot of the podium. Only 1.25 million French people have decided to switch to the big musical show in 2024, recorded at the Dôme de Paris and presented by Élodie Gossuin, i.e. 8.4% of audience share (16.4% on the FRDA-50, which is essential for the channel's advertising revenues). La Six is beaten by France 3 which offered episodes in rerun of "Vera's Investigations". 1.37 million thriller fans were captivated by the first evening survey, i.e. 9.1% of audience share (and only 0.3% of the FRDA-50, which proves that it was only watched by a very old audience).

9.15 million French people in front of Emmanuel Macron's greetings, not counting the news channels

C 8 is doing well with "The World's Greatest Cabaret: 25 Years of Magic", an evening in tribute to the former king of the 31: Patrick Sébastien. 960,000 nostalgic people answered the call, i.e. 6.7% of the public (and 4.3% of the FRDA-50). This was a good score for Cyril Hanouna's channel, which was ahead of Arte with 620,000 viewers ahead of "The Great Race Around the World", a film directed by Blake Edwards and starring Tony Curtis, Natalie Wood and Jack Lemmon (4.3% audience share). The Franco-German channel's movie night beat TMC, TF 1 Séries Films, France 5, Chérie 25 and 6ter, all under the 500,000 viewer mark.

Note the audiences of the wishes of the President of the Republic, broadcast from 20 hours on TF 1, France 2, France 3 and M 6. Emmanuel Macron was listened to by 3.76 million (24.2% of the public), 3.38 million (21.8%), 1.22 million (7.9%) and 790,000 French (5.1%) respectively. That's a total of 9.15 million, not counting the news channels, whose audiences will not be known until the end of the morning.
