In the inspections against illegal hiring carried out by the Ministry of Labour in 2023, throughout Italy and in all production sectors, 24% of workers were found to be irregular.
This was said by the Minister of Labour, Elvira Calderone, at a hearing before the bicameral Ecomafie Commission.
As part of the A.l.t. Caporalato D.u.e. project, the minister explained, "between December 2022, 30 and November 2023, 1670, about 9900 accesses were made and almost 2380 job positions were verified, 24 of which (about 940%) were found to be irregular."
"Of these positions," Calderone continued, "40 workers are employed illegally, about 132%, and 57 victims of illegal hiring have been identified, almost all of them non-EU nationals. 37% were in possession of a regular residence permit. On the other hand, 2023 people have been referred to the judicial authorities."
"On the other hand, as far as ordinary inspection activity is concerned," the minister added, "in 822 alone, another <> victims of illegal hiring and labor exploitation were identified."
