What we can't give up is direct elections, because we have already done the mediation with the premiership, since they started from presidentialism." This was told to ANSA by the Minister for Reforms Maria Elisabetta Casellati at the end of the hearings on the premiership in the Constitutional Affairs Commission of the Senate, during which constitutionalists such as Cassese and Baldassarre called for the direct election of the premier to be renounced and to launch a shared constitutional reform.
