A new street named after David Bowie was inaugurated Tuesday in Paris, on what would have been the 77th birthday of the iconic British musician, who passed away in 2016.
Although the announcement of the construction of the street in the French capital was made in 2020, after the mayor of the city's 13th arrondissement, Jerome Coma – an ardent fan of Bowie – announced it, the launch itself took place, fashionably late, only about four years later.

Rue David Bowie, probably the world's first street named after the late Bowie, is located between two office buildings (one of which houses the editorial board of the popular newspaper Le Monde) and is a ten-minute walk from the large Austerlitz train station, in the southeast of the City of Light. The street sign, under Bowie's name, lists the years 2016-1947 - the period in which he lived.
The dedication ceremony, which was attended by many fans despite the freezing weather, included Koma, designer Agnes B and artists George Underwood and Jeff McCormack – who had worked with Bowie in the past and were considered his best friends.

And more about David Bowie: On the upcoming record store day on April 20, a new-old compilation album of the singer will be launched in a limited vinyl edition. The compilation, "Waiting In The Sky (Before The Starman Came to Earth)", will consist of 11 tracks, including four songs recorded in 1971 but not found their way onto the masterpiece album The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars, one of which is a cover of Chuck Berry's 1958 classic Around and Around (Bowie's version is called "Round and Round").
