Around 15 p.m. local time (8 a.m. in Italy) Taiwan sent alert messages on mobile phones related to China's launch of a satellite that was flying over the sky of the south of the island, alerting citizens to the possible fall of debris. Moments later, China's state-run CCTV network reported "the successful launch of the Einstein Probe satellite."
Foreign Minister Joseph Wu commented harshly: "A launch at this very delicate moment of our elections (there are presidential elections on Saturday, ed.), I would classify it as activities of China's 'gray zone' to remind Taiwan that there is a danger of war."
