A group of Ukrainian hackers, probably with intelligence support, hacked Moscow-based internet provider M9com and 'demolished' the servers with the result that part of the Russian capital was left without internet and TV.

This was reported by sources to RBC-Ukraine, adding that about 20 terabytes of data have been deleted. In addition, the hackers downloaded more than 10 Gb of data from the company's mail server and customer databases, which were made available online. The hackers, the sources say, acted to avenge the Dec. 12 cyberattack on Ukrainian telecommunications company Kyivstar.

Kiev, a thousand Ukrainian towns and villages are without electricity

Ukraine's electricity grid operator Ukrenergo said harsh winter weather had left more than 1,000 towns and villages without electricity in nine regions as the energy system was weakened by Russian attacks. This was reported by the Guardian.

The operator said electricity consumption reached its highest levels this week as temperatures dropped to around -15 degrees in many parts of the country.

"The level of consumption continues to rise due to the significant drop in temperature across the country," it said on Telegram. Ukraine had to import electricity from neighboring Romania and Slovakia in order to meet demand, Ukrenergo said.
