It was a well-known face of Eurovision who passed away on Sunday night. Guy Bonnet, author, composer and performer who twice represented France at the famous competition has died at the age of 78. He died "in his sleep, with his wife" in a hospital in Montpellier (Hérault) where he was hospitalized, report our colleagues from France Bleu Vaucluse.
Although better known in his native Provençal region than in the rest of France, he will be remembered as the man who helped France reach the top 10 of Eurovision three times.

Twice on stage performing "Marie-Blanche", at the competition organized in Amsterdam in 1970, then "Vivre", in 1983 in Munich, two songs that had allowed France to rank respectively fourth and eighth in the ranking. He also participated once as a composer by writing "La Source", performed by Isabelle Aubret, who came third in the competition in London in 1968.

In addition to Eurovision, Guy Bonnet is also the author of fourteen albums recorded in the Provençal language, which have been a regional success, with original songs as well as adaptations of famous titles by Charles Trenet, Jacques Brel and Charles Aznavour.
