A 74-year-old woman died in the last few hours from Equine Encephalitis, in what was the first victim in the province of Buenos Aires and the second nationwide amid an outbreak of the disease.
The news was confirmed by the Ministry of Health. This is a patient who lived in a semi-rural area. "He began with symptoms in mid-December, so he was hospitalized in regular general condition with deterioration of his underlying disease and progressive sensory alteration, requiring admission to intensive care with mechanical ventilatory assistance within the first 48 hours," the health ministry said.
"Currently, the province of Buenos Aires has 10 cases, of which all required hospitalization, 4 of them were discharged, 5 are still hospitalized and 1 died," they added.
