A member of Islamic Jihad, Majdi Fashafsha (37) was killed today in the village of Jaba, near Jenin, in the West Bank. The Maandi news agency said he had been detained in Israel in the past and that today army units surrounded his home in an attempt to capture him. Sharpshooters were stationed nearby. Military sources, quoted by the media, said that he was a local commander of Islamic Jihad. At the sight of the soldiers, they added, he tried to flee and was shot down. One of his comrades was arrested. In the building where they were located, there were weapons and ammunition.
