Such a supermarket purchase has a lot of pitfalls. A Lidl employee now lists the four biggest mistakes customers make towards her.

Nettetal - From Nettetal he storms the Internet: A young man works as a store manager for a Lidl store in the small town of North Rhine-Westphalia. But in the meantime he is known far beyond the borders of the town. His videos on TikTok, which he uploads under the name "der.filialleiter", sometimes collect millions of views. He spilled a secret vegetable code, played jokes with the cash register and a jar of Nutella, and revealed a money-saving tip that is only valid three days a week. And he also clarified the matter with the quark balls for 4009.90 euros. By the way, the Lidl store manager has proven his identity to our editors.

Lidl cashier: "This is how you make my life easy at the checkout"

He has now been able to win over a colleague for a new video – after all, the Lidl store manager has filmed himself often enough. Topic: "The golden rules at the cash register. That make the lives of the cashiers, but also of you, easier." The Lidl cashier introduces the video with "This is how you make my life easy at the checkout" – and then shows four major customer mistakes.

Firstly, bottles should never be placed on the checkout conveyor belt – they will almost certainly fall over. "The fact that some still haven't understood it with the bottles amazes me every time," the comments read. Did you know that a drink doesn't even belong on the tape? And the fact that there is also a "right" and a "wrong" when it comes to putting it on top – other cashiers had already exchanged ideas about this again and again on the net.

But back to the Lidl video and the second mistake. The clerk asks: unpack the shopping and do not leave it in the box. Many customers carry their purchases around in a repurposed milk carton and stack it there in a complicated way. Picking apart should not be left to the cashiers.

Lidl cashier warns: "Put down 30% stickers visibly" - it's about hard cash

The third issue is about hard cash. "Put down the 30% sticker visibly," was the appeal of the Lidl crew. Otherwise, it can happen that the cashier overlooks the fact that it is a reduced product and the full price is charged. Shouldn't happen, but can. The fourth point is obvious: use product separators! Of course, the cashiers should notice where the old shopping ends and the new one begins. This is also emphasized by one user: "People who don't use separators. That makes me really angry. I do this 6-7 hours a day and can't always pay attention to where the shopping ends." The topic of goods separators is also the subject of major debates on the Internet.

The video garners a lot of approval, but also one or two headwinds. "Sorry, but if you're not completely stupid, the 'tips' will come about by themselves through common sense," it says. The promote reaction to this: "I'm guessing you've never worked in retail before, right?! That's where you experience things." By the way, the Lidl cashier forgot the fifth or sixth hint: be friendly! And refrain from supposedly funny sayings – there is one in particular that retail employees can no longer hear.

Lidl apparently approves of the store manager's TikTok work – of course, it's usually positive PR that directs the focus to the brand. The discounter also writes negative headlines again and again: There was once deposit receipt trouble on the net. Lidl once made itself very unpopular with vegans and had to apologize. And when it comes to supposedly top offers, customers occasionally look down the tube. (lin)
