Discounters are popular in this country. But what do Americans think of Lidl, Aldi and Co.? One couple is particularly fond of a discovery at Lidl.
Munich – Pretzels, rolls, bread and the like are sold on practically every corner in Germany. Many people notice that this is not the case everywhere when they are on holiday. After all, bread and baked goods are far less important abroad than they are in Germany. This is also shown in a YouTube video of an American couple. Because this one is very enthusiastic about a bread gadget at the German discounter Lidl.

Couple from the USA in Germany: Lidl gadget fascinates
Heather and Casey moved from the USA to Germany and since then have been showing German shops, eating habits and customs in this country in their videos. Nine months ago, they visited a German Lidl for the first time and showed it to their followers. In addition to what they say are relatively affordable fruit prices compared to the US, they are also particularly fascinated by another thing.

Because: what the two have never seen in the USA and immediately catches their eye in the German Lidl is a bread machine. Some people might be surprised by this, because in this country even some kitchens have integrated bread machines. "We're excited about how the cutting machine works. We don't have that at home," says Heather. Of course, the two of them have to test the bread machine immediately. "I hope we're doing it right," says the US-born artist. The machine cuts the bread into thin slices. "This is the coolest thing I've ever seen," Heather gushes.
There are now also some Lidl stores in the USA. Although the discounter was founded in Germany, you can also shop at the popular supermarket in America since 2017. But not in the whole country. Lidl is currently only available on the East Coast in the USA. The discounter from Germany has a total of 150 stores there. While some typical American products are offered there, there are also German Lidl private labels, such as chocolate spread. This is what a YouTube video about the discounter in the USA shows.
Another Lidl find is probably typically German. For example, a string of lights that was sold at the discounter is causing discussion on the Internet. Again and again, products at discounters cause a sensation on the Internet. This was also the case with a melon, the price of which led to disagreement.
