The audience for the musical Gutenberg!, performed at the James Earl Theater, was lucky Wednesday night. The play tells the story of two best friends, young writers played by Josh Gad and Andrew Rannells, who dream of creating a great musical about Johannes Gutenberg on Broadway. Each performance ends with a celebrity entering the stage, who arrives as a "Broadway producer" to present Gad and Rannells with a contract for their musical about the inventor of the printing press. Booke Shields, Jake Gyllenhaal, Neil Patrick Harris... The stars have followed one another since the premiere in September. This time, it was Anne Hathaway and Anna Wintour who took to the stage.

The 74-year-old artistic director of Condé Nast Publishing arrives on stage and introduces herself as a "very famous Broadway producer," before stopping and turning back to Anne Hathaway. "And here's my assistance," she adds. "Always?" replies a discouraged Anne Hathaway, provoking laughter from the audience.
This is a reference to the role of Anne Hathaway in the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada. She played the character of Andy Sachs, a somewhat awkward and somewhat ignorant assistant to Miranda Priestly, editor-in-chief of the great fictional magazine Runway, The latter, cold and almost inhumanly demanding, is played by Meryl Streep, and directly inspired by Anna Wintour.

And if the editor-in-chief has always left doubt about the fortuitous resemblance, she likes to play with it. The two women were recently seated next to each other at the Michael Kors Spring/Summer 2023 show, sparking wild reactions on social media. So the scene is rather comical, when we saw David Frankel's film. "That's it," as Miranda Presley would say.
