Atalanta have announced an appeal against the two-match ban imposed, along with the caution, on their coach Gian Piero Gasperini by the Sports Judge in reference to the match against AC Milan valid for the quarter-finals of the Coppa Italia.
The coach had been sent off on Wednesday evening for a yellow card for repeated protests in the 38th minute of the first half, on the occasion of the alleged incorrect contact on De Roon in the area by Reijnders and Gabbia. Contested, in particular, was the failure of the Video Assistant Replay to intervene on the episode in question, which cost a head injury to the Atalanta player involved who, however, today resumed regular training in the group.
"Atalanta BC, having read the sanction imposed by the Sports Judge on Mr. Gian Piero Gasperini, will announce a complaint in order to acquire the official documents on which it is based and, as a result, to take any and all appropriate initiatives, also in consideration of the episodes that - on the field - preceded the expulsion of our coach, namely the failure of VAR to intervene for the penalty foul (not sanctioned) suffered by the player Marten De Roon, who following the impact with an AC Milan player remained - like the Rossoneri player - on the ground, generating a state of apprehension among all the members of the bench, apprehension justified by the subsequent diagnosis that highlighted a head injury for De Roon himself".
