The meatballs with tomato sauce and mozzarella are so easy to prepare

  • While the oven preheats to 180 degrees (top and bottom heat), the meatballs are prepared first. To do this, mix the minced meat with the cream cheese, season with salt and pepper and shape into about 25 small meatballs. These are then spread in a baking dish greased with a little olive oil.
  • In the next step, the onion and garlic are peeled and finely diced. Also cut the mozzarella into small pieces.
  • Heat some olive oil in a deep frying pan or a smaller saucepan and sauté the onion and garlic cubes in it. Add the tomato paste and fry briefly. Then deglaze with apple juice and stir in the strained tomatoes and cream. Season with the dried herbs, salt and pepper to taste.
  • Pour the sauce over the meatballs, sprinkle with the mozzarella and bake in the preheated oven for about half an hour. Remove from the oven and garnish with a little fresh basil. Enjoy your meal!
  • The meatballs in tomato sauce can be enjoyed wonderfully with pasta. If you're wondering which pasta goes best with tomato sauce with meatballs, try farfalle or fusilli.

The fruity tomato sauce can also be dipped with some freshly baked white bread, such as a crispy onion and potato focaccia.
