Flatulence and bad breath do not necessarily have to be a tumor disease in the stomach. However, in order to obtain certainty, it is necessary to have an adequate diagnostic examination of the following symptoms and concomitant symptoms at the doctor's office:

  • Frequent nausea, especially after eating: About 40 to 70 percent of people who develop stomach cancer describe this symptom.
  • Persistent loss of appetite: People with a developing stomach tumor often have little need to eat, also due to the existing nausea.
  • Weight loss: The symptoms such as nausea and loss of appetite often lead to significant weight loss. However, an unwanted loss of weight can also be considered a sign of stomach cancer.
  • Change in taste sensation: According to the German Cancer Research Center, stomach cancer patients report developing an aversion to certain foods such as meat and drinks months before diagnosis.
  • Difficulty swallowing: Difficulty swallowing and impaired eating and drinking can indicate a tumor disease.
  • Feeling of fullness with pain: If there is regularly a tight stomach after eating, not only gastritis, but also stomach cancer could be the cause.
  • Persistent and recurring feeling of pressure in the upper abdomen: Can be an indication of a serious medical condition such as stomach cancer.
  • Belch: The feeling of pressure in the abdomen often means that affected people not only have to burp unpleasantly immediately after eating and drinking, but also more often.
  • Constant heartburn: The pain in the stomach area can be both a sign and a possible trigger for stomach cancer.
  • Bad breath: If those affected are approached by others or notice a kind of bad breath on themselves for a long time, they should contact their dentist. If this can rule out possible inflammation of the teeth or gums, a clarification by a family doctor or a gastroenterologist is advisable in order to have a gastroscopy carried out with the exclusion of other diseases.
  • Recurrent flatulence: If, in addition to nausea and stomach pain, there is also regular and sometimes painful flatulence, this could indicate a condition such as stomach cancer.
  • Severe fatigue: Similar to colorectal cancer, people who develop stomach cancer experience increasing, leaden exhaustion and reduced performance.
