"The main problem" for the economy "is the risk that the Middle East conflict will escalate, widen, and even block the Red Sea and the two Suez canals, forcing trade to circumnavigate Africa instead of passing through Suez." This was stated by Antonio Patuelli, president of the Italian Banking Association, in Florence.
According to Patuelli, "this would lead to strong risks of rising costs, a recovery in inflation, and therefore a cooling of this trend" to the downside of market rates.
